Ruby the Red Fairy

Ruby the Red Fairy
Title: Ruby the Red Fairy
Genre: Fantasy
Author: Daisy Meadows
Illustrator: Georgie Ripper
Awards: None
Age group: 6-9 yr. olds

This book is one in a series of many fairy books from the same author. This is a great book to help a reader get use to chapter books, because it still has pictures in it which is what they are use too and is a really great fantasy book option.
Summary:
Rachel and Kirsty are going on vacation to Rainspell Island. Then when they get there they decide to go searching for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Then when they got the end of the rainbow, there was a pot sitting upside down so they turned it over to find a fairy. The fairy’s name was Ruby and asks for their help finding her other rainbow fairy sisters. Ruby tells them that the rainbow fairies forgot to send Jack Frost an invitation to a ball, so he cursed them to the separate corners of Rainspell Island. She needs their help to find them and bring color back to fairy land. In the end the girls set off to find the other rainbow fairies. The story then continues in the next book.

I believe I would use this book in my classroom because it seems like a great book to have for the students to be able to read in free time because it is more like a beginning to read chapter books type of book and it is very easy to read.

The appropriate grade level I believe for this book is 1st-4th grade because it is a super easy book to read, with big letters, small chapters and is not very long. This is also a great book to introduce series type books to students.

I believe you can use this book as a fairy tale genre example since it is all about fairy’s and magic. I would also use this book as a great way to encourage reading on their own because this book has a subject that is really fun to most kids and would be something they would want to read in their free time.
HAVE FUN READING!💙-Lacy
